Jake is a husband, father of five, and a true Texas native. He is also a Military Veteran who served in Afghanistan as an Army Specialist with the 89th MP Brigade in support of operation, Enduring Freedom 9/11.
Jake’s passion for cooking has led him to become the Lead Pitmaster at 1701 Barbecue in Beaumont, TX since 2020, where he leads his team. His passion for barbecue earned the restaurant a well-deserved spot on the coveted Texas Monthly Top 50 Barbecue Joints list in 2021, less than a year after opening.
Jake is a sought-after presence at various festivals around Texas, such as the Texas Monthly BBQ Fest (Lockhart, TX), Troubadour Festival (College Station/Celina, TX), and Red Dirt Music & BBQ Festival (Tyler, TX). He was recently invited to participate in the 2023 Hogs For A Cause festival and benefit in New Orleans, Louisiana. His passion and talent truly shinethrough in his craft.
