Daryl Walker aka “Sweetie” of Sweetie’s Bar-B-Q from Natchitoches, La. I got started with BBQ around the age of 15 with my dad and was always in the kitchen with my mom. I was able to cook my dad some of the best ribs he had ever eaten before he passed away. I finally got my mom to start FULLY sharing some of her secret recipes and now i am blessed to be able to make her famous cornbread dressing which pairs deliciously with so many BBQ dishes. I started catering as a hobby while being a full time General Contractor. In 2021 I began transitioning my hobby into something more full time with competitions, catering and opening my restaurant in Natchitoches, LA. When I BBQ it’s like it feeds my soul and relaxes me. I enjoy traveling with my beautiful wife Trisha (The Boss) doing competitions and feeding people. Some of my most proudest wins have been 4th place Ribs World Champion at Memphis In May 2024 (which I used Villari Prime Baby Back Ribs ), 2nd Place Ribs at Hogs for the Cause, 5th Place Whole Hog at Hogs for the Cause, Grand Champion at the BBQ Throwdown in Marksville, La, Grand Champion in Lovington, NM earning a spot to compete at The Jack, Reserved Grand Champion at Smoke on the Waters in Pine Bluff, Arkansas are just to name a few. You can even see me on BBQ USA Season 2 Episode 5 in action. Even though I am competitive, to me competitions aren’t about who I am going up against, it’s just about me doing the best I can do.
