Jodi is a wife, sailing enthusiast, and Texan with a Cajun soul. With two decades of experience in the industry, Jodi has combined her attention to detail and empathetic nature to create cuisine that goes beyond restaurant menus. Drawing from her nostalgic imagination, she strives to create an inviting atmosphere in her culinary endeavors, embodying the essence of “Gather,” the restaurant she previously owned and operated alongside her two sisters.
Jodi is well known and loved in her Southeast Texas community to which she recently returned. Now at home, she leads the chef-driven kitchen at 1701 Barbecue in daily scratch-made sides, private dinners, and festivals all across the state.
When she’s not in the Kitchen at 1701 she can be found feeding her sourdough starter, or preparing to sail into Galveston Bay from the Houston Yacht Club. To be with Jodi is to be invited to slow down and enjoy what is simple, present, and good.
