John Bridges has been waking up Southwest Louisiana since 1996. Before co-anchoring 7 News Sunrise, John was an assignment editor when he first arrived at KPLC in 1992. He proceeded to anchor weekend newscasts and eventually started highlighting the Lake Area people and culture in his “Louisiana Traveler” series. In 2001, shortly after 9/11, John began hosting a weekly “Hometown Hero” segment. Prior to KPLC, John had 16 years in radio news, having started at the age of 15.
John has won numerous radio and television Associated Press News awards over the years and has been voted the Most Popular Media Personality several times by readers of Lagniappe magazine. John’s assignments have included trips to Cuba, Norway, France, Canada and Alaska.
He and his wife, Koni, grew up in Southwest Louisiana and have one son, Jacob, who teaches in Texas.
