Chef Joshua Hutton, Culinary Arts Instructor for SOWELA Technical Community College.

Chef Hutton is a self-proclaimed “oil field brat,” and as such has been fortunate to live in and travel to several places both domestically and abroad. While living in Southeast Asia, his love affair with food was born, and has been growing steadily since. As a result of his travels and gastronomic curiosity, Chef Hutton is well versed in many types of cuisine, including Mediterranean, Latin, Asian and, of course, Cajun and Creole.

A veteran of thirty years in the “trenches” of the restaurant industry, Chef Hutton has run the proverbial gamut of career experiences, ranging from various corporate concerns to a humble poboy shop in Lafayette to a country club in Houston to several highly acclaimed restaurants in Chicago.

Chef Hutton received his formal training south of I-10 at the Chef John Folse Culinary School at Nicholls State University.

It was a natural transition to enter teaching and instruction, as mentoring young chefs has always been the most rewarding and satisfying part of his career.
