Joshua Smith, is a lifelong resident of Louisiana, born in Lafayette and raised in the vibrant city of Lake Charles. As a high school student Josh enrolled in Sam Houston High School‘s DECA program, little did he know, this would set the stage for his life calling. This program allowed learning a variety of skills necessary for a multitude of positions in the food and beverage industry and this served Josh well allowing him to work his way up to a team leader position with Chili’s while attending McNeese State University for Business Management. In 2005, an exciting opportunity awaited for Josh at Lauberge Du Lac Hotel and Casino. He was part of the pivotal team that opened and launched Snake River Grille. He quickly climbed the ranks working all positions through out the restaurant, and finally landed the role of lead kitchen Expo. In 2009, Josh decided to expand his portfolio and ventured into the world of financial services. After acquiring the necessary licenses, Josh ran his own insurance agency specializing in Life Insurance and Mutual Funds in Lake Charles. He also served as a Regional Vice President for the company. During this time period Josh received many awards and accolades. This bold career transition marked his commitment to both personal and professional growth, leading Josh to become one of the top producers in the state. He Still Holds his Louisiana Life Insurance License today.
2012 brought a return to Josh’s culinary roots, albeit from a slightly different angle. Joining one of the largest and most recognized alcohol beverage distribution companies worldwide, Josh went to work in sales for Southern Glazers Wine & Spirits. Within a very short time, Josh was promoted to Area Manager. This position allowed Josh to acquire expertise that encompassed all aspects of the alcohol beverage industry, in both on and off – premise sectors.
Passion for business is not the only thing that drives Josh, he also has a heart for his community. The devastation inflicted on the SWLA community by the hurricanes of 2020, lead Josh to take initiative and help serve his community that he loves dearly. He founded the first annual SWLA Community Coat Drive that provided over 2000 coats, blankets, and winter wear items to the homeless community. Collaborating with Southern Glazers and prominent brands like Tito’s Vodka, he was able to orchestrate significant donations for community cooking initiatives to help those impacted by the storms. These acts of kindness and community service is what lead Josh to where he is at today. Coffee:30 Company was conceived from the passion of serving the community during the impact of the storms and brought to fruition not long after. Josh is the CEO of Coffee:30 and remains steadfast that Coffee:30’s heart is to combine the love of the community with exceptional gourmet coffee and culinary delights. He strives to serve only the best to the SWLA community!
